London tube stabbing treated as a “terrorist attack”

LONDON, England – Police arrested a suspect tonight, December 5, following a stabbing at the Leytonstone subway station in London around 7 pm, according to a city government representative, the Evening Standard reported.

The attacker reportedly threatened bystanders and shouted “This Is for Syria” before slashing people with a knife.

One person was seriously injured after being slashed in the neck, before the police stopped the attacker with a Taser and took him into custody.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter-Terrorism Command are now investigating the incident. Police say they are treating a stabbing rampage as an act of terrorism.

There has been severe disruption to the Central Line on the Tube since the attack.

Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn wrote on Twitter: “The stabbing in Leytonstone is absolutely shocking. My thoughts are with the victim and his family.”
