Dubai court sentences drug-smuggling British tourist to a decade in prison
A 31-year-old British visitor was sentenced to a decade in prison on Wednesday, after she was arrested with 4.4kg of marijuana oil found in e-cigarettes at Dubai International Airport, a court heard.
The British tourist was arrested carrying 4.4kg of “marijuana oil” or cannabidiol, referred to as CBD and 1.4 grams of cocaine powder.
An inspector suspected the girl at the airport and found the CBD in her luggage. She was caught with 307 pods filled up with “marijuana oil”.

Dubai Public Prosecution charged the girl with smuggling and possessing illegal substances.
Dubai Court of First Instance ordered her to be to deported after serving the jail time and pay a Dh50,000 fine.
However, the court order could be appealed inside a fortnight.
The case may be the to begin its kind at Dubai Courts after Dubai Police warned on April of individuals caught vaping or smuggling marijuana oil.

According to the director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, marijuana oil usage was on the upsurge in the initial quarter of 2019, and 97 individuals were caught in the initial quarter of the year in comparison to just two in exactly the same period this past year. Almost all of the offenders were caught smuggling the oil by Dubai Customs.
