South African Airways’ employees in THE UNITED STATES commemorate Nelson Mandela Day

South African Airways (SAA), the flagship carrier of South Africa, commemorated Nelson Mandela International Day using its employees at the THE UNITED STATES Regional Office in Fort Lauderdale taking part in an outreach program by collecting donations to aid the Nancy J. Cotterman Center of Broward County, Florida. The Nancy J. Cotterman Center improves and enhances the grade of life for victims of sexual assault and child abuse by giving assistance, professional counseling and community services. SAA employees donated a large number of essential supplies including; foods, clothing, linens, toiletries, coloring books, crayons, and children’s toys.

In November 2009, july 18 as Nelson Mandela International Day the US officially declared, recognizing Mandela’s life, legacy, values and dedication to the ongoing service of humanity. Day to honor this special, SAA employees, on a worldwide basis, organize many different charitable activities to call home around Mandela’s call of earning a confident impact in the entire lives of the less fortunate across the world.

“It is extremely heartening to start to see the overwhelming display of compassion and contributions by the dedicated SAA employees inside our THE UNITED STATES Regional Office to aid and recognize the significance of commemorating Nelson Mandela International Day. The donations to the Nancy J. Cotterman Center will go quite a distance in assisting members of our community who’ve been suffering from unspeakable hardships,” said Todd Neuman, executive vice president, THE UNITED STATES for South African Airways. “Because the national airline of South Africa, it really is our responsibility to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s heritage in a confident way which will bring enduring change.”

South African Airways encourages everyone to devote 67 minutes of these time- about a minute for each year of Nelson Mandela’s public service- to produce a gesture towards the higher good with this wedding day.
