Jamaica Tourism Minister meets with Embassy officials on Security Audit Report
Jamaica Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, today met with key Embassy officials to go over the recent security audit report. The Embassy officials, including representatives from america, United Canada and Kingdom, were updated by Minister Bartlett on the sector’s strategic plans to make a new architecture for security and then steps.
“The meeting was critical once we engaged key stakeholders from our major source markets on another steps to ensuring safety, seamlessness and security within the sector. These were informed these next steps are the recent appointment of a fresh director of Visitor Safety and Experience, Major Dave Walker, a skilled security expert, who’ll review this initial report and offer recommendations further.”
The meeting also included a technical team from the Ministry and its own agencies: the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo), which led the island wide security audit and the Tourism Enhancement Fund; along with recognized security expert Dr internationally. Peter Tarlow of safertourism.com.
“I highlighted the creation of a Manual on Tourism Ethics also, an initial of its kind, that will guide our security infrastructure in the sector and how exactly we interface with one another. This manual will be an operational game changer for Jamaica’ s tourism since it could be the first time we’ve a thorough guide with this certain area,” said Minister Bartlett.

Major Walker has been tasked by Minister Bartlett to perform the Manual on Tourism Ethics and tips about security for the sector by the finish of the entire year. The purpose of the audit, which received support from recognized security expert, Dr. Peter Tarlow, will identify gaps and ensure a technique of a safe, secure and seamless destination for locals and visitors alike.
