Tourism Linkages Network to build up a “National Herbaceutical RESEARCH STUDY”
Jamaica Tourism Minister Hon. Edmund Bartlett says the development of the herbaceuticals sector can be important activity within the Tourism Linkages Network of the Jamaica Ministry Of Tourism, with a national research study underway currently.
The Minister made this statement, during his participation in a High-level Forum on Health insurance and Medical Tourism, at the twenty-third session of the overall Assembly US World Tourism Organization in St. Petersburg, Russia.
“The ongoing research is intended for exploring the awareness primarily, perception and understanding of the Jamaican public on the existence and using ‘Herbaceutical’ products.
The overall reason for this scholarly study would be to explore and locate regions of opportunity, whereby the federal government can act on reliable information to create and implement policies and programmes to build up a far more robust herbaceutical industry,” said Minister Bartlett.
Research shows that of the 160 plants declared and known worldwide to possess medicinal properties, 80 of the plants are endemic to Jamaica. The word ‘Herbaceutical’ is usually to be used to categorize products such as for example food here, cosmetics and medicinal products comprising a substance made by the procedure of drying, mixing or crushing of plant materials.
