Russia’s regional authorities proceed to restrict tourism on Lake Baikal Irkutsk
Local authorities in Russia‘s Irkutsk region have adopted new Rules for the business of tourism and recreation in the central ecological zone of the Baikal natural territory, that will limit tourist activity in Lake Baikal.
In accordance with the guidelines, 11 places will be allocated in the ecological zone where tourist areas will undoubtedly be created. For every of them, the specialization and type will undoubtedly be determined, and also the prospect of accommodation of vacationers and tourists and the outdoor recreation.
The main reason for the rules would be to comply with the utmost permissible environmental stress standards. Priority will be directed at environmental tourism with a restricted flow of travelers, said the press service of the national government of the Irkutsk region.
