Syrian migrants posing as Ukrainian volleyball team make an effort to put on EU at Athens Airport
Greek police have caught several migrants from Syria wanting to fool migration control by posing as a volleyball team from Ukraine.
Ten Syrian refugees were arrested at Athens International Airport on the weekend, police said. So that they can fool migration control, each of them dressed up in identical uniforms, brought a genuine amount of similar sports bags, and two volleyball balls.
They had Ukrainian passports also, that have been listed as lost or stolen. The Syrians planned on flying to Zurich, Switzerland. From there they wished to happen to be a EU country but police didn’t reveal which.
Despite the elaborate disguise, these were detained and intercepted. The men, aged 20 to 25, are waiting to be taken to the attorney general&rsquo now;s office.
Over 875,000 migrants from the center East found its way to Lesbos, Kos, along with other Greek islands through the peak of the EU migration crisis in 2015. The quantity of arrivals would fall to 56,500 in 2018.
