“G’mar Hatima Tova” (May you be sealed in the Book of Life) to all or any Jewish readers around the world. Yom Kippur, because the Day of Atonement also known, day of the entire year in Judaism may be the holiest. Its central themes are repentance and atonement. Day having an approximate 25-hour amount of fasting and intensive prayer jews traditionally observe this holy, of your day in synagogue services often spending most.

Thinking about my many Jewish friends and colleagues round the global world, it’s appropriate to become listed on the overwhelming amount of Germans and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Tonight in a vigil outside a synagogue in Berlin the Chancellor joined residents. Her participation was to lead the German people in expressing their condemnation of the horrible domestic terror attack earlier today on the Jewish host to worship, the synagogue in Halle.

Growing up in Germany after WWII, I usually experienced my old country to function as most tolerant invest the global world. You should recognize that the risk of white supremacist violence is worldwide, also it shall require us to do something on an internationally level so as to stop it. The chance from the proper is real, unfortunately, however, not only in Germany, inside our own country even, america of America.

As the Mayor of London said today:  “It’s devastating that folks have already been attacked near a synagogue in #Halle today on Yom Kippur. The horrors of days gone by feel very present for most Jews, as antisemitism is increasing again. I’ll continue steadily to do all I could to safeguard Jewish Londoners so that they feel safe inside our city. My thoughts are with the victims of the shooting in Halle. Let’s stop the hate. Let’s fight antisemitism. Let’s build an tolerant and open Europe.”

As a German American, I’m proud to possess witnessed my “old country” has been instrumental in building this open and tolerant Europe and stand against what’s wrong. Germany changed into a worldwide society with German citizens of any pores and skin truly, religious affiliation, and orientation. That is something Germans should be pleased with.

Anyone saying the Holocaust never happened and utilize this ill-belief to justify murdering innocent citizens is really a violent and sick criminal behavior – nothing more, nothing less.

It pains me to visit a 27-year-young man become a senseless killer. I’ve talked and seen to German skinheads in Berlin.

They are teenagers searching for an identity often. Criminal gangs give a feeling of belonging sometimes, and teenagers are most vulnerable. In the U.S. and several other countries, racially motivated gangs and drug-related criminal enterprises victimize teenagers often. It’s wrong, it’s dangerous also it takes trained and professional counselors to avoid it.  Germany invests heavily such professionals actually.

However German social services are overwhelmed with the refugee crisis but are providing many programs unavailable generally in most countries to avoid what just happened in Halle today.

As German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said, “we must assume that it had been at the very least an antisemitic attack.”

I urge everyone never to judge my German countrymen on the action of a little band of misguided people.

Travel can be an industry of peace and understanding. Germans are world champions in terms of travel. Having an average of 6 paid weeks vacation in per year Germans want to explore the planet and also have the methods to do so. They’re well respected on earth everywhere.

Germany is probably the hottest travel and tourism destinations in the global world. I urge everyone to help keep traveling. Explore Germany all on your own.  Germany is really a safe and welcoming destination with open-minded, and tolerant individuals who have confidence in human rights, environmental protection, and freedoms.

I am so pleased with my birthplace and have the pain German citizens feel tonight. This is simply not a Christian, Jewish, or Islamic issue. It’s a criminal issue, and my appeal is for the German legislature would be to increase punishment for such criminal and senseless acts. The German justice system may be fair, open-minded, however, not for harsh punishments.

The German people join all decent people in this global world condemning antisemitism and terror.  Shalom!
