The way to get your ID online and pass TSA Security?
U.S. Travel Association Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Policy Tori Emerson Barnes issued the next statement on the announcement that the Department of Homeland Security is wanting to offer an online process to acquire REAL IDs:
“We appreciate the nice work of the Department of Homeland Security when planning on taking this important step to get ready the united states for the 2020 REAL ID deadline.
“This is a much different security and technology landscape than when Congress passed the Act in 2005 now, and as a complete result you can find real opportunities to help make the REAL ID application process a lot more efficient, while enhancing security truly. Our research implies that 99 million Americans don’t have a genuine ID passport or license, that could mean significant headaches at DMVs—year including long lines and wait times through the entire next. Without bold steps to teach the general public about REAL ID requirements and modernize the application form process, next October 1 thousands could possibly be turned from boarding a flight.

“This DHS initiative which could allow states to go more of the true ID application process online is one which we’ve been advocating for and believe could greatly mitigate challenges we shall otherwise face next year. That is one of the policy recommendations we believe are critical once we approach the true ID implementation deadline of October 1, 2020, and we anticipate dealing with Congress and the administration to go this forward.”
